John ‘Jack’ S. Longley

John “Jack” S. Longley, 63, of Dousman, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, conquering his 16-year battle with cancer.
Jack was born on Nov. 20, 1948, the son of June and Sarah Longley in Watertown.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah (nee Jacobson) of Dousman. He is the cherished father of Andrew (Lisa Stefanik) Gussert of Waunakee, Pamela J. Longley of High Falls, N.Y., and Cynthia (Eric) Fosholdt of Palmyra; adored grandfather of Ashlynn Rose Longley, Andrew Fosholdt and Alerik Longley; dear son of Sarah Longley; and brother of Linda Theine of Dousman and Virginia (Jack) Beatty of Menomonee Falls.

Jack was preceded in death by his father, June, and brother-in-law, Don Theine.

Jack served his country as a U.S. Marine in Vietnam. He was employed as an equipment operator for Wolf Paving for more than 30 years. Jack was an avid outdoorsman with an obsession for deer hunting and trapping. Jack was a multi-time champion and lifetime supporter of the Wisconsin State Frog Jumping Championship held annually at Dousman Derby Days. He was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Parish, Dousman American Legion, Oconomowoc VFW, Dousman Gun Club and the Wisconsin Trappers Association.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved dogs and all of his hunting buddies; remembered by other relatives and many dear friends for his unique individuality, including but not limited to his story telling, generosity, passion for gardening and never ending tenacity to “never give an inch!” and never give up.

Visitation for Jack will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at St. Bruno Catholic Parish, 226 W. Ottawa Ave., Dousman. A Mass of Christian burial for Jack will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the church with the Rev. Ralph Gross officiating. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery.
