Robert E. Wessel, 84, of Oconomowoc, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012. Robert was born March 9, 1928, in Oconomowoc, to Herbert and Ruth (nee Prosser) Wessel.

Robert was the former co-owner of the Oconomowoc Color Center. He was a Navy veteran, a member of the Okauchee American Legion Post 399, the Oconomowoc Masonic Lodge 42 and the Tripoli Shriners. Bob lived a long, active life and enjoyed the company of his many friends and family. He always found joy in helping those around him.

In the late 1960s, he obtained his pilot’s license and based his plane at the “Oconomowoc International Airport.” The Wednesday card games were dear to his heart and continue to this day. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Robert is survived by his children, Dianne (Dennis) Wessel Alexander of Portland, Ore., John (Jan) Wessel of Portland and Steve (Kay Drew) Wessel of Madison. He was the fond brother of Barbara Wessel of Oconomowoc. He is further survived by his sister in-law, Delores Wessel of Portland; grandson, Dennis; nephew, Craig; and other relatives and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Herbert; and a sister, Marion.
Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until the 2 p.m. service Thursday, April 26, all at the Schmidt & Bartelt Notbohm-Kreutzmann Funeral Home, 121 S. Cross St., Oconomowoc. His final rest will be in LaBelle Cemetery.
