Yvonne M. (Fountain) Smith

Yvonne M. Smith, 85, of Dousman, formerly of Waukesha, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at the Three Pillars Health Care Center, with her family by her side.
Yvonne was born Dec. 11, 1926, the daughter of the late William J. and Lillian (Gorman) Fountain in the city of Marquette, Mich.
Yvonne was married to Donald Smith on June 11, 1955, in Marquette. Over the years, Don, Yvonne, daughter Susan and son Richard lived in Marquette, Superior, Milwaukee, Cass Lake, Minn., and Waukesha, due to Donald’s career.
Donald preceded her in death on June 14, 1998.
Yvonne graduated from Graveraet High School in Marquette and then attended the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. After returning to Marquette, she worked for the Lake Superior & Ishpeming Railroad. She met Donald, who was campaigning for (and elected) county treasurer. Later, Donald began a career with the U.S. Forest Service. Once they moved to Waukesha, Yvonne began a career as an auditor, with the IRS, where she worked for many years. In 1994, Don and Yvonne relocated to the Three Pillars Senior Living Community in Dousman.
Yvonne was an accomplished artist, painting numerous nature scenes and portraits and had a studio in her home.
Yvonne is survived by her daughter, Susan (Robert) Schwemmer of Fort Atkinson; son, Richard (Carol) Smith of Waukesha; five grandchildren, Jeff (Heather) Gerbensky, Laura (Ken) Bergmann, David (Amanda) Smith, Elizabeth Smith and Rebecca Smith; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Donna Fountain; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, William G. and Gertrude Fountain; and brother, Robert G. Fountain.
A celebration of Yvonne’s life was held by her family. A private entombment will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.
