Richard 'Dick' Thomas, 93, joined his Lord on Friday, Aug. 24, 2012.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Merl, Roger and Stella Staven.
He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 66 years, Alice (nee Kinateder); his loving children, Jean (Denny) Spaulding, Mary (Michael) Browne, Carol Schultz, Jack (Kathy) Thomas and Diane (Jim) Turk; precious grandchildren, Heather (Brian) Paulin, ŇDJÓ (Tammy) and Nathan (Sara) Spaulding, Shelly (Michael) Harke, Mick, Molly (Jon Ramsey) Browne, Kari, Sara, David and Steven Schultz, Eric, Dylan and Tyler Thomas, and Matt (Laura), Joe and Jon Turk; cherished great-grandchildren, Zack Paulin, Alli, Holly, Cyrus, Kim, Brenden and Aiden Spaulding, Finn and Willa Browne, Ingrid and Thomas Harke and Ryan Turk; a brother, Frank; along with many other relatives and friends.
Dick grew up on his family's farm in the beautiful Kettle Moraine area. After high school, he entered the Army and eventually left the farm. He was a proud veteran of the 32nd Division. Next to his loving wife Alice, above all, was his love of family and children. He enjoyed his time with the Land o' Lakes baseball team, watching the Brewers, the Packers and working his yard and garden. Dick was a great example of how to enjoy life!
If so desired, in lieu of flowers, memorials will be donated in Dick’s name to his favorite charity.
A memorial celebration of Dick’s life will be held from 5 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha, with a 7 p.m. memorial service. Burial is private.
