Aurilla Rosemary Crane (nee Le Baron)

Oct. 28, 1918 – May 20, 2012

Aurilla Rosemary Crane (nee Le Baron) was born in Waukegan, Ill., on Oct. 28, 1918, and found eternal peace May 20, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph.

She was the loving mother of Mark. Rosemary is also survived by nieces, nephews and many other dear friends.

After graduating from Waukegan Township High School, she spent four years at Milwaukee State Teacher’s College (now UWM), and earned a Bachelor of Science degree. She taught first grade at the Old Third Ward School in Lake Geneva from 1942 to 1946.

During that time, in 1943, Rosemary Le Baron married Ralph Crane, and when he returned from World War II, the couple moved to Waukesha. Rosemary did substitute teaching in the Waukesha school system until 1949 when their son, Mark, was born. Six months later, the family moved to their home at 446 S. Hine Ave.

In 1957, Rosemary signed a contract with the Oconomowoc school system. She taught kindergarten there until her retirement in 1980. After spending 43 years in their home on Hine Avenue, Ralph and Rosemary moved to Oakhill Village in 1994.

She was a member of First Baptist Church for almost 40 years; First United Methodist Church; The Norma Craven Circle: Waukesha County Retired Educators; YWCA; and Shhh (Self Help for Hard Of Hearing).

Her body was donated to the University of Wisconsin Medical School. A memorial visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. memorial service Saturday, Sept. 8, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha.

It was her wish to have memorials sent to Living Spirit Church, P.O. BOX 341444, Milwaukee, WI 53234.
