Doris G. Scarce

Doris G. Scarce of Caledonia, formerly of Waukesha, died surrounded by family Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, when the Lord opened His gates and she heard His voice. He called her name and led her home. She was born in Waukesha on July 15, 1922, the daughter of Herman and Ellen Bartelt.

 

On June 23, 1958, she married Eugene P. Scarce. Doris was an active member of Our Lord’s United Methodist Church for many years and Raymond Community Church later in life. She was also a member of the VFW Post No. 721 in Waukesha for more than 65 years. She worked as a neighborhood cosmetician at South Side Pharmacy and Phillips Pharmacy in Waukesha and Elm Grove. In retirement, she worked at Kmart in New Berlin and Waukesha for more than 10 years. She loved dealing with the public when she was working and rummaging on her days off. Her greatest loves in life were her Lord and family. 

 

Doris will be sadly missed by her son, Mark R. (Jan) Scarce; stepdaughter, Sharon L. Schult; stepson, Bill (Carol) Scarce; grandchildren, Christine M. (Christopher) Kniech, David W. (Sheri) Gottfried Jr., Richard J. (Lisa) Gottfried, Cassandra M. (Jonathan) Chalmers, Christopher M. (Jessica) Scarce, Nicki Scarce and Becca Scarce; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Abby, D.J., Logan, Olivia, Aubrianna, Skyler, Aiden, Ashton and Hala; and step-grandchildren, Paul, Aaron, Joelle, Kevin, Diona, Jo-El, William “Billy,” Molly and Margie. Doris is further survived by other relatives and friends. 

 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Eugene P. Scarce Sr., and two sons, Eugene “Gino” Scarce Jr. and David W. Gottfried Sr.

 

The first visitation for Doris will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the Raymond Community Church, United Church of Christ, 8217 W. Highway G, Raymond, WI 53126. A second visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. Burial will immediately follow the service at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Raymond Community Church, United Church of Christ (see address above).
