David Sather

David J. Sather, 74, of Onalaska, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospice Care in the company of his loving family. Dave was born Dec. 13, 1937, in Waukesha.

He studied, worked and lived with his family in Chicago and Orlando, Fla., where he maintained a chiropractic practice. In 1976, he settled in Brice Prairie, creating and operating his own business, Aqua Tec, until his retirement in 2006. Dave loved to hunt and to be with his family.

Dave is survived by his wife, Geraldine E. (Cardillo); a daughter, Rhonda Olsen of Onalaska; a son, David Sather of Holmen; his grandchildren, Joshua (Katie), Anthony, Nicholas (Emily), Austin, Elizabeth, Alexis, Candice, Chase and Arianna; and his great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Jackson. Dave is also survived by his brother, Dennis Sather of Holmen; a sister, Diane Messer of Waukesha; aunt, Virginia Whalan; cousins, Sharon Sprecher and Donna Nowak of Waukesha; and others too numerous to list.

Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Fohey Sather Messer, and father, Oris Sather of Waukesha.

Geri would like to express her heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Brice Prairie first responders, Tri-State Ambulance and all the nurses and certified nurses aides for their compassionate care of Dave while he was a resident in the Onalaska Care Center. Special thanks and gratitude to Gordy for his attentiveness while driving Dave to his appointments and to Char and Mike McGreal for their invaluable friendship and assistance when most needed. A sincere "God bless you all" to the staff of the Palliative and Hospice Care of Gundersen Lutheran Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, at the Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. South, La Crosse, with burial to follow at the Onalaska Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
