Evelyn A. Geis (nee Christiansen) of Waukesha died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at LindenGrove of New Berlin at the age of 90. Evelyn was born Feb. 13, 1921, a daughter of the late Carl and Annie Christiansen.
Evelyn was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, Waukesha. She married the love of her life, Edward Geis, on Aug. 24, 1940. Together they owned and operated the Whippoorwill Lodge in Townsend. Evelyn enjoyed playing cards and watching the Packers and Brewers. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Evelyn will be dearly missed by her daughters, Judy (Charles) Venzke and Joyce (Richard) Merz; grandchildren, Kevin (Sonja), Steven, David (Doreen), Debbie (Andres), Ed (Amy) and Brian (Shelly); and great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Daniel, Edward, Andrew, Erica, Alex, Jason, Brett, Kelly and Eliana. Evelyn is further survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; parents; brothers, Larry and Arthur; and sisters, Esther and Vera.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, Jan. 9, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. The Rev. Rachel Chingej will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.
