Irene Matz (nee Lillge), 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Waukesha surrounded by family and friends Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012.
One of eleven children born in Ashippun, she was preceded in death by Damon Krause (husband); Ernest and Adelle (Luebke) Lillge; and she was the beloved wife of more than 30 years to Melvin Matz.
She was the mother of Donald (Dianne) of Melbourne, Fla., and Diane (James) Yatzeck of North Prairie; grandmother of Donald (Mimi) Krause, Michelle Krause and Lisa (George) Bogrand; great-grandmother of Taylor, Reed and Cody; sister of Leona Schlecht of Madison, Gordon (Arline) Lillge of Jefferson and David (Eileen) Lillge of Watertown; and the caring aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Irene will be forever loved, missed and remembered by her devoted family and wonderful friends.
Irene moved from Genesee Depot to Waukesha where she worked and retired from Waukesha Rubber Company. She was an active member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Irene loved to spend some of her winter months in Arizona and Florida, where she enjoyed, music, playing golf and cards.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be held from noon until the 12:30 p.m. funeral service Thursday, Jan. 12, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1052 White Rock Ave., Waukesha. A procession to Prairie Home Cemetery will follow.
