Eugene Duranceau, 79, of Bowler, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, under the care of his family and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, Wausau, at his home.
He was born Oct. 25, 1932, in Brokaw, the son of the late Frank and Myrtle (See) Duranceau. Eugene was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War in the 1st Cavalry.
On Oct. 15, 1960, Eugene was united in marriage to Charlene Fordham in Waukesha. She survives.
Eugene was employed as a lumber yard foreman for Home Supply in Waukesha for 38 years until his retirement. He enjoyed cutting wood, hunting, fishing and driving his tractor. Eugene especially enjoyed the time spent with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Charlene, survivors include four children, David (Laurie) Duranceau of Waukesha, Daniel (Jill) Duranceau of Stevens Point, Debra (Steve) Fleischmann of Eagle and Peggy (Joon) Park of Columbus, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Jonathan Park, Hannah Burton, Sarah Park, Danielle Duranceau, Andrew Fleischmann, Christopher Fleischmann, Caitlin Duranceau, Megan Fleischmann, Austin Duranceau and Cody Duranceau; one sister, Belva (Edwin) Marshman of Watertown; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence, and two sisters, Ione Dixon and Lois Schmidt.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service today, Jan. 31, at the Church of the Nazarene, Mattoon. The Rev. Mark Quinn will officiate. Interment will be Wednesday in Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha, with visitation held in the cemetery chapel from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A graveside committal service will follow, being officiated by the Rev. Gary Dixon along with military rites.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Nazarene Compassionate Ministry, Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services or directly to the family.
