April 19, 1937 – June 29, 2012
Rosemary Walden (nee Untersee) was born April 19, 1937, in Monroe to John and Hedwig Untersee. Her parents immigrated to the United States in the early 1900s from Switzerland. She died Friday, June 29, 2012, age 75 at her home surrounded by her loving children, following a spirited battle with ALS.
Rosemary grew up on her parents’ farm with her 10 siblings, where her love for the outdoors and her passion for helping others took root. She received her associate’s degree in radiology in 1956 and went on to work as a radiology technologist for more than 50 years.
Married in 1957 to James Walden, Rosemary took great pride in their six children and dedicated her time to attending sporting events, school plays and graduations, all the while imparting her profound spirit, wisdom and compassion for others to everyone she met.
Later she would do the same for her 13 grandchildren, rarely missing a birthday, special event or an opportunity to express her love. Rosemary showed us all how to live life to its fullest and how to die with immense grace and dignity.
Rosemary is survived by her sister, Hedy, and brother, Norman; daughters Theresa Murphy, Mary Walden, Kim Keough and Kyle Zacho; sons Jim and Mike Walden; daughters-inlaw Patti Walden and Cheryl Walden; sons-in-law Joe Keough, Mike Murphy and Damin Zacho; granddaughters Emily Walden, Courtney Walden, Claire Walden, Taylor Walden, Annie Zacho, Charley Zacho, Megan Murphy and Kyle Keough; and grandsons Jim Walden, Daniel Walden, Samuel Sait, Ben Zacho and Colin Keough.
Visitation will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, S38-W31602 Highway D, Genesee Depot, Wisconsin on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., immediately followed by a memorial mass.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the ALS Association.
