James Howard Baird
James Howard Baird, 72, of Oconomowoc, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, July 14, 2012.
James is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; sons, Robert (Shelly) Baird, Ronald (Jenny) Baird, John (Jayme) Baird and Tim (Liz) Baird; stepdaughters, Noel (Khamp) Manikham, Amanda (Andrew) Kelly and Brittany (Jerad) Adler; grandfather to 14 grandchildren; and sister to Sandra Dahlgren of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Eileen (Bill) West of Sevierville, Tenn. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
James is preceded in death by his parents Ronald Baird and Donna Monyelle.
James was a U.S. Navy veteran and a proud member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Oconomowoc Chapter #635 and the Tin Can Sailors, and also volunteered with many other veterans organizations. He was an over-the-road truck driver for more than 40 years logging more than 2 million safe miles. He was an avid Harley-Davidson rider and a member of the HOG-Rock River Chapter. James enjoyed auto racing at the Milwaukee Mile, fishing, hunting, politics and reading and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Saturday, July 21, at Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 1165 E. Summit Ave., Oconomowoc, with military honors to follow.
