Charles Frederick Bessette

Charles Frederick Bessette found eternal peace Monday, May 28, 2012, in his home in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho. Although only 24, Charlie had many life experiences around the country – first in Wisconsin, then New Hampshire, Colorado, Utah and, of course, in Idaho. While he enjoyed the fishing in Wisconsin and the beauty of the White Mountains out east, he fell in love with grandeur of the Rockies.

Music and people were his passions. His recent work focused on helping other young adults move forward in their lives. He played the guitar, wrote and performed his own music and has recorded several CDs. His early work is available at CD Universe and iTunes. His family hopes to release the current CD he had completed later this year. Charlie often said that in his struggle with alcoholism, it was his music that held him together.

He will be greatly missed by his parents, Judi and Fred Bessette, his aunts and uncles, cousins and friends, his colleagues and students, and by his furry friends, Snoop Dog and Marley.

Gifts in Charlie’s memory can be made to the Friends of Families Foundation through their website at or to the Rogers Memorial Hospital Foundation at Both organizations offer help, hope and healing to families with teens and young adults who are struggling with mental health and/or substance issues.

A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
