Kristin C. Ahrendt

Sept. 18, 1942 – June 6, 2012

Kristin C. “Kris” Ahrendt of Waukesha died Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at her home at the age of 69.

She was born on Sept. 18, 1942, in Oconto Falls, the daughter of Bill and Pearl (nee Hansen) Larsen. Kris was a 1960 graduate of Oconto Falls High School. On Oct. 12, 1963, she married Larry Ahrendt of Waukesha and moved there. Many of Kris’ fondest memories over the years revolve around children – her own and others. Those memories include 12 years as a Cub Scout leader, eight years as a Girl Scout leader, 10 years helping to teach the DNR Hunter Safety Program and 20 years as a licensed day care provider. Kris was a member of Church Women United and served as treasurer for 25 years. She was also treasurer of W-ELCA, a church women’s organization at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, where she was a member. Kris taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Waukesha and Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls.

Kris will be dearly missed by her husband, Larry, of Waukesha; their children: David (Shaunna) Ahrendt of Scottsdale, Ariz., Kathy (Bruce) Bancroft of Hartland and Matthew (Jevelyn) Ahrendt of Grand Marsh; five grandchildren: Lance Bancroft, Nick, Christopher, Elizabeth and Bill Ahrendt, and her sister Pat Malmanger of Bella Vista, Ark. She is further survived by her brother-in-law, Ted Ahrendt, and sisters-in-law Judith Wallace, Barbara Wallace and Juanita Radtke. There are also close family and friends who were supportive over the last 22 years in her fight against severe chemical allergies. She was preceded in death by her parents, her young granddaughter Alicia Ahrendt and her brother-in-law Tom Ahrendt.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St., Waukesha. The Rev. Kathy Boadwine will preside. Private family interment will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery.
