Kenneth R. ‘Ken’ Tomfohrde

Kenneth R. “Ken” Tomfohrde, a lifetime Waukesha resident, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 10, 2012, at his home at the age of 68.
He was born in Waukesha on Feb. 9, 1944, the son of Arnold and Mabel (nee Elger) Tomfohrde. Ken was a 1962 graduate of Waukesha South High School. He worked for ETW, Inc. for 45 years and retiring in 2007. He was a longtime member of Reformation Lutheran Church. Ken loved to hunt and fish and was a volunteer Hunter Safety Instructor for more than 25 years. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed tending to his flower and vegetable gardens. He enjoyed playing sheepshead every Wednesday with the Golden Agers at the Schuetze Building in Waukesha. He held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and will always be remembered for being a jokester.
He will be forever missed by his wife of 48 years, Mary (nee Skoug) Tomfohrde of Waukesha; their three sons, Scott (Jill) Tomfohrde of Pewaukee, Dave (Katie) Tomfohrde of Katy, Texas and Rick (Michele) Tomfohrde of Eagle; and his five grandchildren, Nicole, Patrick, Alyssa, Samantha and Jacob Tomfohrde. He is further survived by his sister, Nancy (Bob) Zak of Glendale, Ariz.; his sisters-in-law, Mary Skoug of Waukesha, Dorothy (Ken) Smith of Pewaukee, Betty (Frank) Eckstein of Mukwonago, Joan (Bill) Barker of Wales and Sharon (Tom) Metko of Wales; his brother-in-law Charles (Donna) Skoug of Oconomowoc; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Don Skoug.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Visitation continues on Thursday, June 14 from 12 noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 700 Beechwood Ave., Waukesha. The Rev. Wayne Meier and the Rev. Dr. Wayne Borgwardt will preside. Graveside services will immediately follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
