Minnie Thomas, 92, Palmyra, passed away peacefully - day, June 21, 2012, while on a trip to Colorado accompanied by family.
Minnie was born 25 1920, in Cushman Mill, Town of Sullivan. On July 12, 1941, Minnie married Arthur G. Thomas and they celebrated 63-plus years of marriage. They lived in the Town of Sullivan on Hardscrabble Road most of their married life.
Surviving Minnie are her eight children, Virginia (Frank) Pfinder, William (Diane Johnson) Thomas, Mary (Frederick) Schneider, Kenneth (Christine Foltz) Thomas, Helen Thomas Evans, Thomas Thomas, Debra (Brian) Blossom and Traci (Todd) Bult; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Dorothy Propp Gartzke, and sister-in-law, Vera Propp.
Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur G. Thomas; her parents; four sisters; four brothers; and three grandchildren.
Minnie graduated from Jefferson High School in Jefferson in 1938. She held the position of treasurer and secretary for Thomas Construction for 56 years. Minnie was active in many community groups such as 4-H, Cub Scouts, the American Cancer Society and Red Cross blood drives. She was a 50-year member of the Red Morris Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star #10, treasurer of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Women and active in the church until her passing.
Minnie left this life doing the things she loved, spending time with family and traveling the country, as well as her time spent with the Red Hatters.
Family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home, 320 W. Main St., Palmyra, with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. Guests may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Melendy’s Prairie Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pleasant Valley Methodist Church or the Rome Historical Society.
