Elizabeth M. Gosa
July 19, 1925- March 5, 2012
Elizabeth Marie Gosa, a lifelong Waukesha resident, was born to eternal life Monday, March 5, 2012, at age 86. She was born in Waukesha on July 19, 1925, the daughter of the late Glen C. and Marie (nee Kleinsteiber) Walker.
She graduated from Waukesha High School in 1943. During World War II, she proudly contributed to the war effort by making mortar shells at the local ammunition factory. She married WWII veteran Gerald J. Sr. ('Jed') on July 21, 1945, and they celebrated 57 memorable years together. Elizabeth devoted her life to her family and friends. Her dedication to her family and home was renowned. She was an active member in the community as part of the Lionesses and Women's Catholic Study Club and supported numerous foundations. Following Jedﾕs retirement, they enjoyed traveling in their motor home as well as abroad, and were loyal spectators at their childrenﾕs and grandchildren's numerous activities. Both Elizabeth and Jed were proud graduates of the Waukesha High School Class of 1943 and enjoyed the numerous class reunions and luncheons.
Elizabeth was the beloved wife of the late Gerald J. Sr. ('Jed'); proud mother of Kathleen (Dean) Hunter, Gerald J. Jr., 'Jerry' (Mary) Gosa, Cindy (Warren) Schlei, James M. 'Jamie' (Cindy) Gosa and Mary (Michael) Sanford; grandmother of Laura Pickett, Deborah Cybela, Matthew (Jennifer) Hunter, Amy (Tim) Kelly, Rachel (James) Lustig, David (Keri) Gosa, Katharine (Matt) Gosa, Colleen (Daniel) Nalepinski, Douglas (Autumn) Schlei, Marcus (Stefanie) Schlei, Curtis Schlei, Lisa (Kyle) Gosa, Kristin (Guy) Welch, James Jr. (Kara) Gosa, John (Natalie) Gosa, Sarah Kemp and Emily (Matthew) DeWane; great-grandmother of Samantha and Abigail Pickett (children of Laura), Jessica and Brenden Hunter, Jacob Cybela (children of Deborah), Rebecca and Andrew Hunter (children of Matthew and Jennifer), Leah, Tyler, Lily, and Jackson Lustig (children of Rachel and James), Reagan and Ellie Gosa (children of David and Keri), Audriella Schlei (daughter of Douglas and Autumn), Nathaniel Schlei (son of Marcus and Stefanie), Bradley, Angela and David Powell (children of Lisa), Marshall and William Welch (children of Kristin and Guy), James III and Jayden Gosa (children of James II and Kara), Jaxon Gosa (son of John and Natalie), Anna Johnson and Dominic Gonzalez (children of Sarah) and Jonathan DeWane (son of Emily and Matthew); and great-great-grandmother of Annahleah Hunter (daughter of Jessica). She was also survived by both her and her husbandﾕs lifelong high school friend, Bill Beitz, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia (nee Walker) Korbas; two brothers, Glen ('Andy') and Robert Walker; and two grandchildren, Billy and Jennifer.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at St. Anthonyﾕs on the Lake Catholic Church, W280-N2101 Highway SS, Town of Delafield. Entombment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waukesha.
Elizabeth supported numerous charities. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Elizabeth's name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
