Robert ‘Bob’ E. Fenwick
Robert "Bob" E. Fenwick found peace Friday, March 16, 2012, at the age of 83. Bob was born May 13, 1928, in Hiles.
His fondest memories were of his childhood hanging around Grandma Harkins’ house and spending time with Ole and Helen Anderson. He would go to work with Ole at the old sawmill and Ole was the one who taught him how to hunt and fish (day or night). He shared countless stories of the fun he had with his cousins, the Votis boys. He married Patricia Fannin, from Crandon, in 1945. He held various jobs in the logging industry around the Eagle River and Rhinelander areas before finally settling in Waukesha. He worked for Milwaukee Cheese Co. for 30 years until his retirement. Not wanting to lay idle, he decided to move to Mauston and help his son Randy co-own and run Dry Gulch Saloon and Eatery until they sold the business in 1994. Bob loved fishing, hunting, grilling out and a good practical joke.
Bob is survived by Patricia and their six children, Dan, Randy, Bob, Penny, Todd and Tom, and also many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie (Harkins) Sheptoski, and his stepfather, Joseph Sheptoski of Rhinelander.
Bob loved life and lived it to the fullest, constantly reminding us that everybody is somebody and to treat them as you would want to be treated.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the 8 p.m. funeral service today, March 20, at the Crandall Funeral Home in Mauston. A graveside ceremony will take place at noon Wednesday, March 21, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Rhinelander.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be sent to Fairview Nursing Home, 1050 Division St., Mauston, WI 53948, for the kindness they showed him as a resident.
