Rosemary Gage

June 19, 1932 – May 1, 2012

Rosemary Gage passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012, unexpectedly at Waukesha Memorial Hospital with her devastated family by her side. Rosemary was born June 19, 1932, in Manchester, England. The daughter of James and Elizabeth (Harrison) Smith, Rosemary was one of five children.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her dear husband of more than 50 years, Andrew; infant son, Andrew; two sisters, Lillian and Elizabeth; and a brother, George.
Rosemary grew up in both the city and country of Manchester, England, as she was a World War II evacuee. From the age of 7 until the age of 12, Rosemary was sent out of the city to live with various families in the country to avoid the peril of German bombing attacks on the city of Manchester.

Upon meeting her loving husband and beginning her family, Rosemary bravely supported the move to the United States for the purpose of building a better life for her family. Rosemary enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and in later years enjoyed several cruises to the Caribbean.

During her mid-40s, Rosemary amazed family and friends by earning her cosmetology degree. Shortly thereafter, Rosemary realized her dream of becoming an entrepreneur by owning and operating Rosemary’s Beauty Salon, which successfully served the Waukesha area for nearly 20 years. Rosemary would always say that her time spent running her beauty salon were some of the happiest years of her life.

Rosemary is the loving mother of Diane Elizabeth (Michael) Walworth of Waukesha and Deborah Rose (Todd) Shaw of Mason, Ohio. She was the supremely proud Nana to Ross Michael Walworth, Alexander Marquis Shaw and Brittany Rose Shaw. She is further survived in Manchester by her sister, Joan Smith, along with many nieces and nephews. Rosemary will be sadly missed by her dear yorkie canine companion, George Winston, who meant so very much to her in the past several years after the loss of her husband.

Rosemary’s family would like to sincerely thank the doctors and staff of Waukesha Memorial Hospital for their kindness and care.

Rosemary will always be in the hearts of her family.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Monday, May 7, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha. Interment will be at Jerusalem Cemetery in Wales.

Church and Chapel Rudolph-Larsen Bros. Funeral Home is serving the family. For more information, call 549-0659 or visit www.churchandchapel.com to view the online obituary, leave condolences or receive directions.
