Claretta A. Boyd

Claretta A. Boyd, 86, of Lebanon, passed away Sunday morning, May 6, 2012, at Marquardt Memorial Manor in Watertown.

The former Claretta Woelfel was born in Waukesha on March 24, 1926, the daughter of Mathias and Leona Woelfel. On Oct. 9, 1948, she married Robert G. Boyd at Holy Apostles Church in New Berlin.

Claretta was a 1944 graduate of Waukesha High School. Prior to her marriage, she had been employed at the Waukesha County Register of Deeds Office. Claretta then, along with her husband, farmed in the Town of Lebanon.
She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. She was also a member of 4H, was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking. Claretta was known for her cooking, baking and gardening.

She is survived by her husband, Robert G. Boyd of Lebanon; her nine children, Christine Boyd of Lebanon, Allen (Sheila) Boyd of Waukesha, Sharon Kuphal of Mosinee, Richard Boyd of Watertown, Catherine (Walter) Miller of Valders, Wayne (Debby) Boyd of Watertown, Brent (Karen) Boyd of Lebanon, Barbara Boyd of Watertown and Bruce (Rhonda) Boyd of Watertown; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Lucille Halvorson of Stratford; Roger (Marion) Woelfel of New Berlin and George (Joan) Woelfel of Suring; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Claretta was preceded in death by her parents; a son in-law, Buzz Kuphal; and a brother-in-law, Martin Halvorson.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral service Friday, May 11, at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown, with Monsignor Daniel Ganshert of St. Henry Catholic Church presiding. Burial will be in Pilgrimís Rest Cemetery in Lebanon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Marquardt Foundation, Marquardt Hospice or to the Wisconsin Parkinsonís Association.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bruce Cochrane and Marquardt Memorial Manor and their hospice staff for the loving care they gave Claretta during her stay.
