EUREKA, CALIF. Kathryn Arleen Davis Bordman (nee Sayles) July 18, 1925 –
April 28, 2012 Kathryn passed from this life at the age of 86 in Eureka, Calif., and is now united with her beloved husband, James, and loved ones who went before her. Katy was born in Silver Park, Saskatchewan, Canada, and was a dual citizen for many years. She was the ninth child of 12 born to Charles and Charlotte Sayles. When she was young, her family moved to Wisconsin and settled in Waukesha, where she was raised. Katy was a graduate of Waukesha High School, class of 1943. She corresponded
with Donald O. Davis during World War II, they were married in 1948 and
together raised seven children. When their marriage dissolved in 1968,
Katy moved with the children to Eureka. Here she met James Bordman and
they were married in 1976. When the last of the children had grown, they
spent their time together hiking, bicycling, camping and traveling. Katy
was fond of the needle arts; adept at embroidery and cross stitch. She
discovered a love for painting later in life, spending many hours honing
and perfecting her skills as a member of Redwood Tole Folk. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Fred, Ray, Beatrice, Virgil, Ruth, Howard (Jack), Carol, Wayne, Harriet and Lois. Katy is survived by her brother Jerome, and her children: Don (Janice) Davis, Sue Powers, Terri Davis, Jeri Davis, Tom (Terry) Davis, Billy Davis, and Jim Davis and her first husband, Donald Davis. She is further survived by her stepchildren: Cher (Mike) Thomas, Kathy (Bruce) Heckard, Debbie Gay, Mary Ann Watson, and "Sam" (Jim) Bordman III (Edwina). In addition, Katy will be sorely missed by many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her first husband Don, and friends. A Mass of Christian
burial was held at St. Joseph’s in Eureka on May 10, 2012. Memorial
contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul dining facility at 35
W. Third St., Eureka, CA, 95501. |
