Anne Martin Sullivan

Anne Martin Sullivan of Oconomowoc passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at the age of 87. Anne was born on March 9, 1925, in Martinsburg, W.Va., the daughter of Charles T. and Alice G. Martin.
She married Robert C. Sullivan on June 21, 1947, in Washington, D.C. Anne was a homemaker and a loving and caring mom to 12 children. Three of her boys were afflicted with muscular dystrophy, who she tirelessly devoted her time to give them the loving care they needed. The courage, strength and patience she showed was truly admirable. Anne moved to Oconomowoc in 1968 and returned to the Washington area in 1986, before returning to this area in 2007.
Anne will be dearly missed by her children, Robert and Kathleen of Arlington, Va., Jeanie (Gary) Blasser of Annandale, Va., Anne and Helen of Madison, and Mary (Steve) Nelson, Terri Gnewuch and John Sullivan of Oconomowoc; her grandchildren, Michele (Patrick) Koper, Joey and Katie Gnewuch, Brian, Kyle and Daniel Blasser and Samantha Nelson; and her great-grandchildren, Elijah, Addison, Aidan and Emme Koper. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Sullivan, and her sons, Richard, James, Joseph and Anthony.
Visitation for Anne will be from 5 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral Mass on Friday, Nov. 2, at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Oconomowoc with the Rev. John Yockey officiating. The burial will take place at Gate of Heaven cemetery in Silver Spring, Md.
Memorials are suggested by the family to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or to the Brain Tumor Society.
