Spencer  F. (Pete) Chapman

Spencer  F. (Pete) Chapman, 83, of the Town of Troy, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at home in the early morning with his wife at his side. He was born July 25, 1929, in Genesee, the son of the late Frank and Blanche (Farnham) Chapman.


On May 27, 1961, at Troy Center United Methodist Church, he was united in marriage to Barbara Sievers. Spencer worked for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in the Fish Management Department for 32 years. He served in the U.S. Army at the Honolulu hospital as a medic and was honorably discharged in May 1949.  Spencer (Pete) was a dedicated outdoorsman and found peace in the outdoors.  He had a season for every month, from morel hunting, berry picking to deer season.


He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two children, Brenda Chapman of East Troy and Brian (Cheryl) Chapman of East Troy; six grandchildren, Maxwell, Roger, Spencer, Crystal, Callista and Drew; his three sisters, Shirley (Doug) Lenicheck, Faye Chapman and Nancy (Mel) Dey; and two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Chapman and Elaine Sievers.  He was preceded in death by his two brothers Wallace (Helen) Chapman and James Chapman.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home, Mealy Chapel, 103 W. Eagle St., Eagle. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Little Prairie Cemetery.
