Virginia ‘Ginny’ Lee (nee Moore) Ott



Virginia “Ginny” Lee (nee Moore) Ott, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, of Pier Willow, passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a courageous struggle with pancreatic cancer Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at age 85.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and William Moore; a brother, William “Pete” Moore; and her sisters, Rosemarie (Vernon) Plinske, Florence “Bebe” (Larry) Nagel, Shirley Coerper, Patricia (Robert) Hathaway and Colleen Hall.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert A. Ott; children, Andrew (Jacquelyn), Steven (Connie), Jane Marie (Michael) Rief and Brian (Suzanne); grandchildren, Heather (Craig) Morrissey, Dan, Jeff (Jennifer), Jason, Joey, Robert, Jill (Matt) Priebe, Jennifer Rief, Jonathan Rief, Joseph Rief, Julia Rief, Keith (Vanessa) and Gina; great- grandchildren, Brennan, Jazmin, Maya, Cohen, Alton, Riley, Josie, Ashley, Ava, Evelyn and Logan; sister-in-law, Carolyn Moore; brother-in-law, Robert Hall; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Ginny graduated from Waukesha High School and lived her life with Robert in various places with his job in retail including West Bend; Clarinda, Iowa; Minneapolis, Minn.; Bettendorf, Iowa; Wausau; Des Moines;  Escanaba, Mich.; Eau Claire; and Chicago.

Ginny worked at Sears, J.C. Penney and Montgomery Ward. She became an amazing expert at transferring our family while her husband moved on to the next store location. She was very crafty with tailor skills, making clothes, refinishing couches and knitting slippers for all her children and grandchildren. Upon retirement, she and Robert settled at Pier Lake for the last 18 years, sometimes wintering in Florida with their motor home.


Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, 5209 N. Willow Road, Tripoli. Interment will be at St. Francis Church Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Frances Parish, care of St Mary’s Church, 320 E. Washington  Ave., Tomahawk, WI 54487.
