James J. Schmidt
July 12, 1933 – Nov. 21, 2012
James J. Schmidt, 79, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at his home in
Juneau.
James Schmidt was born July 12, 1933, in Milwaukee, the son of the late
George and Elizabeth Schmidt.
He graduated from Waukesha High School in 1952. He was united in marriage
to Marlene Pichekoske at St. James in Menomonee Falls. James was employed
at Waukesha Motors and later became the business owner of The Schmidt
House in Oconomowoc. James and Marlene were also coordinators in the
Shaklee Corp. James and Marlene moved to Juneau 25 years ago. They were
active members of the DAV Auxiliary and members of the Sacred Heart
Catholic Church in Horicon.
Survivors include his daughter, Victoria “Vicky” Schmidt of Chicago;
his grandson, Michael of Oconomowoc; his granddaughter, Elizabeth of
Janesville; his great-grandson, Mason; four brothers, George Schmidt,
Richard Schmidt, Paul Schmidt and Robert Schmidt; and three sisters, Rose
Marie Nettesheim, Betty Roehl and Catherine Damon.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marlene Schmidt; his
son, James A. Schmidt; his brother, George; and his sister, Catherine.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Sacred
Heart Catholic Church, 950 Washington St., Horicon. A Mass of Christian
burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Devoted family friend, Father
Guy Gurath, will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the
Town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Clement J. Zablocki VA
Hospital in Milwaukee and the Beaver Dam Dialysis Center for their care of
James over the past seven years. In addition, a heartfelt thank-you is
extended to the many friends who dedicated their time toward providing Jim
a loving and fulfilling quality of life.
Memorials may be made in Jim’s name to the National Kidney Foundation.
