Jean Wilkinson (nee Foti)

Nov. 7, 1931 - Nov. 21, 2012

Jean’s kind and gentle journey ended peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc. Born Nov. 7, 1931, Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ned Wilkinson, and a brother, Jim.

Jean was the youngest child of the late Sal and Lucille Foti, and is survived by what Ned and Jean called their “sensational sixteen”: Jim, Nancy, Matt and Caitlin; Maripat and Julia; Geri; Sarah, Tom, Emily, Alex, and Ben Acker; and Tim, Nancy, Bo and Dibet. She is also survived by her sister, Geri, and brother-in-law, Ken Buttke, of Woodland Hills, Calif.; brother, Tom; and sister-in-law, Janice Foti of Oconomowoc; sister-in-law and friend, Gert Wilkinson of Oconomowoc; as well as numerous beloved in-laws, other relatives and friends.

We can hear Ned welcoming his beloved right now with the strains of “Jean, Jean, Roses are Red ...” Jean, Mom, Grandma, Nana was a prom queen and graduate of Oconomowoc High School and Marquette University. She was a teacher, writer, crossworder and passionate reader. She taught at St. Jerome in Oconomowoc, Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Milwaukee and St. Robert in Shorewood, and wrote numerous stories. She co-wrote with Ned a series of children’s books entitled “Come to Work with Us.” Her grace and quiet strength touched and inspired both family and friends throughout her life, while her strong faith and sense of humor helped Jean lead all of us throughout her battle with cancer.

The family wishes to thank ProHealth Care Home Hospice nurse Bonnie Schnabl and the entire staff at AngelsGrace Hospice, as well as Dr. William Cooper and Dr. Patrick O'Malley for their outstanding and empathetic care of Jean.

A celebration of Jean's life took place Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the funeral home. A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 29, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 995 S. Silver Lake St., Oconomowoc. The interment will be private.
