Erin M. Voll

Aug. 27, 1983 - Sept. 28, 2012

Erin M. Voll, a lifelong resident of Waukesha, passed away peacefully at home Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at the age of 29 after a two-year battle with breast cancer. Erin was born on Aug. 27, 1983, the daughter of Eddie and Shirley Voll.

Erin was in the 2002 Waukesha South graduating class, where she enjoyed track and cross country, vocal and instrumental music. She was a member of the Milwaukee Youth Symphony (viola) while in high school. Erin went on to graduate with a high honors degree in biology from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She worked for several years at Joann Fabrics of Pewaukee. She obtained her veterinary technician license and was currently employed at the Forest Home Animal Clinic in Hales Corners, where she shared her lifelong love of animals.

Erin will be dearly missed by her parents, Eddie and Shirley; her boyfriend, D.J. Stodola; her dog, Sheena; uncles, Al (Rose) Voll, Verlyn Johnson and “Uncle Gene and Aunt Sue,” who are more family than friends; and her grandparents, Elmer (Anna) Voll and Elsie (Theodore) Bleyer. Erin is further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Theonal and Mildred Johnson and Pauline Voll.

The family would like to thank many people: the doctors and nurses at Pro Health Care Oncology for their caring and compassion the past two years; the ProHealth hospice team that provided support for Erin while she was in in-home hospice care; pastor Kathy and pastor Gary, who supported Erin in her fight; Erin’s co-workers at JoAnn’s and Forest Home Animal Hospital for their support and fundraising efforts; and the many friends, family and neighbors who supported her and her family in so many ways through the two-year battle.

The visitation for Erin will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of the 5 p.m. funeral service Wednesday, Oct. 3, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St., Waukesha. The Rev. Kathy Boadwine will be officiating. Burial will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75224, or to the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County, 701 Northview Road, Waukesha, WI 53188.
