NORTH PRAIRIE

John W. ‘Bill’ McKenzie

July 29, 1925 – Aug. 28, 2012

John W. “Bill” McKenzie of North Prairie entered into God’s kingdom surrounded by his loving family Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at the age of 87.

In 1949, Bill was united in marriage to Avis C. Morris, and together they raised six children. Bill and Avis dedicated their lives to the success of Bill’s Service. He loved and cherished the community of North Prairie. From 1974 until 1984, Bill served North Prairie as the fire chief. He was an amazing and courageous man. Bill was a wonderful blessing for everyone who knew him. It is a great loss for North Prairie as he loved this town and spent his whole life giving so much of himself.

Bill was the beloved husband of the late Avis C. (nee Morris); loving father of the late Lynn (the late Charles) Reddick, Terry (Brenda) McKenzie, Jane (Mark) Boebel, Jean (Jerry) Pierzchalski, Lori (Brett) Hilmer and Tracy Bodnaruk; proud grandfather of Jeff (Margaret) Reddick, Jackie (Tom) Mittelstadt, Jarrod (Michelle) Reddick, Cassy McKenzie, Corey and Zachary Boebel, Heather and Rebecca Hengstenberg, Faith Hilmer and Lauren and MacKenzie Bodnaruk; and great-grandfather of Jackson, Adison, Emerson and Geneva Mittelstadt, Torri Reddick, Kylie Hengstenberg and Reece Reddick. Bill is further survived by other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation and services were held Friday, Aug. 31, at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, 930 Main St., Mukwonago. Interment will be at 10 a.m. today, Sept. 1, at North Prairie Cemetery (please meet at the cemetery).

Memorials in Bill’s name may be directed to the United Methodist Church in North Prairie.
