Ruth Lorraine Rice Maegli of Oconomowoc passed away Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at age 88.

She was born Oct. 25, 1923, in Pelican Lake, the 11th of 14 children. In 1941, she graduated from Rhinelander High School. She moved to Milwaukee in 1942 and helped with the war effort until attending Alverno College in 1946. She married William R. Maegli in 1951 and together they had eight beautiful children and seven grandchildren.

Ruth loved games of chance, a good bargain, flowers and family. She enjoyed Brewers games, Irish music, card games and just being a mom. She continuously opened her heart and helped others.

She is survived by her children: Mary Catherine Maegli of Kansas City, Kan.; William A. (Ruth) Maegli of Milwaukee; Patrick (Margaret) Maegli of Delafield; James R. Maegli of Butler; Michael J. Maegli of Waukesha; Jay P. Maegli of Milwaukee; Ann Marie Johnson of Oconomowoc; and Christopher J. (Sandy) Maegli of Oconomowoc. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Daniel, Trish, Cassie, Nora, Jason, Sarah and Ben; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 2000.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. TODAY, Wednesday, Sept. 26, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 120 Nashotah Road, Delafield. Visitation will be at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of Mass.
