Frances D. Wettengel

A community caring lady, Frances Dorothy Wettengel “Fran” passed away at a daughter’s home Sunday, March 3, 2013, at the age of 81.

 

Fran was the loving mother of Mary (Peppy) Butterfield, Kathy Tovar, Alan (Kathy) Schrank, Sandy Schrank, Christine Ramos, Janine (Randy) Asher, Jayme (Jesus) Rodriguez and Robbie Thomson. Fran was the loving grandma of 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fran was the very loving sister of Herbert (Wanda) Cooper, Ronald (Nancy) Cooper,Glenn (Karen) Cooper, Nancy (Curt) Johnstone and the late Mildred Gadzalinski. Fran was also loved by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Born Feb. 27, 1928, in the historic Cheney Faulkner Cooper home at Prospect Hill in New Berlin, Frances Dorothy was the eldest daughter of Milton and Neoda Gross Cooper.

 

Fran attended Prospect Hill School and graduated from Waukesha High School.

 

When Fran married Robert Schrank, they settled on a New Berlin farm from where Fran became active in the community. She was a busy member of the New Berlin Historical Society and was a teaching leader of the Prospect Hill 4H club. There is where her children got their start.

 

Fran attended the Baptist church in Jefferson.

 

With her second marriage to Ronald Wettengel, they spent much time up north.

 

Preceding her in death were her husbands, Robert Schrank and Ronald Wettengel; a daughter, Darlene Schrank; a sister-in-law, Wanda Cooper; and a dear sister, Mildred Gadzalinski.

 

Funeral services were held for Frances Dorothy Cooper Schrank Wettengel on Friday, March 15, at the Krause Funeral Home, New Berlin. Burial was Saturday, March 16, in Sunnyside Cemetery, Prospect Hill, New Berlin.
