Ruth M. Roberts (nee Noble)
Ruth M. Roberts (nee Noble) of Wales passed away peacefully Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the ripe old age of 104.
She will be missed by the many family, friends and community members who knew her well.
Ruth was the loving mother of Shirley (George) Conway, the late Jack (Linda) Roberts, Hal Roberts and Don Roberts; and grandmother to 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Gwilym (Gig) Roberts; her son, Jack Roberts; her granddaughter, Chris Enslow; her great-granddaughter, Ruthie Green; her parents, Otho and Caroline Noble and Elizabeth Stanley; and her brother, Whitey Tork. As the matriarch of original Welsh farm settlers in Wales, Ruth worked on both her family farm and then Prairie Dale Farms, the Roberts family farm, for most of her life. Her primary job on both farms was milking, starting at just eight cows in her teens, then expanding to 160 head in the 1970s. Ruth was an active member of the Jerusalem Presbyterian Church. She spent her whole life raising her children and entertaining her grandchildren. She loved to play cards, enjoyed years of ceramics and served many meals to family, friends and strangers over the years, always leaving room for dessert. She attributed her longevity to daily servings of LeDucís frozen custard.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kern and Merrill Hills Manor for the care and kindness give to Ruth.
Visitation will take place from noon until the 2 p.m. funeral service Sunday, April 14, at Jerusalem Presbyterian Church, 207 W. Main St., Wales. The Rev. Bill Petterson will preside. Burial will immediately follow at Salem Cemetery.
Memorials to Jerusalem Presbyterian Church are appreciated.
