Kay (Anderson Monroe) Van Meter

May 20, 1934 – April 3, 2013

Kay (Anderson Monroe) Van Meter, 78, of Upper Arlington, peacefully passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013. She was born to the late Richard and Lillian Anderson in Madison on May 20, 1934.

Kay graduated from Oconomowoc High School and attended Carleton College in Minnesota. For her gift of helping others smile, laugh and feel loved, Kay is adored and treasured. Playful, childlike, she loved visiting with her children, grandchildren and friends and enjoyed word games, golf, bridge, Bible study, movies and travel. A writer, story-teller and former director of the Worthington Historical Society, Kay coedited with her daughter the bestseller “Finding God at Harvard,” as well as writing World War II era dramas. Kay was a member of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church for 25 years, where she worshipped and volunteered.

Kay was preceded in death by her second husband, Edward Van Meter.

She is survived by her loving children, Kelly and David Kullberg, Mike and Carol Monroe, and Dan and Janis Monroe; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, April 27, at the U.A. Lutheran’s Church at Mill Run, 3500 Mill Run Drive, Hilliard, OH 43026. The Rev. Paul Ulring will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Upper Arlington Lutheran Church in her memory.
