Sue Johnson Dowd

Sue Johnson Dowd, 73, of Oconomowoc, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug.
11, 2013, surrounded by her family. Sue was born March 15, 1940, in
Oconomowoc, where she grew up with her parents and younger brother.
She attended Oconomowoc schools and graduated from Northwestern
University in June of 1962. Before raising a family in Wisconsin, Sue
spent time in San Francisco as a model. Along with her husband, Jim
Dowd, she committed her time and talents into managing Wilkinson Manor
and bringing Saturday Mass to the Manor community. Sue was also integral
in starting the Jim Dowd Memorial Scholarship Fund to assist students in
the Oconomowoc community. In between the time she devoted to her family,
friends and the community, Sue enjoyed gardening, needlework, reading
and gathering with the gang for Saturday Holy Hour.
Sue was the beloved mother of Dan (Carol) Bobke of Mission Viejo,
Calif., Peter (Kris) Bobke of Oconomowoc, Tina (Mark) Hohlfeld of
Oconomowoc and Eric (Andrea) Bobke of Whitefish Bay. She was also a
loving stepmother to Mary, Catherine, Mike, Pat, Margaret, Anne, Tom,
Jane and John. Sue will be sorely missed by her 26 grandchildren and her
loving dog, Seamus.
Sue was preceded in death by her mother and father, Margi and George C.
Johnson, and her brother, Jim Johnson. She was also preceded by her
husband and soul mate, James F. Dowd, and their beloved dog, Murphy.
Friends and family will gather from 1 p.m. until the 3 p.m. service
Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Schmidt & Bartelt Notbohm-Kreutzmann Funeral
Home, 121 S. Cross St., Oconomowoc.
Memorials, if desired, may be sent to AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc
or Holy Hill.
Sue’s feisty personality will be missed by all of those who loved her.
