Joan Gleason of Waukesha passed away Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Angels Grace Hospice at the age of 71. She was born in Milwaukee on Jan. 5, 1942, the daughter of George and Helen (Lindquist) Makela.
Joan was united in marriage to James Gleason in Illinois on June 29, 1965. Since 1975, Joan and Jim have made their home in Waukesha. Joan enjoyed long walks and spending time outdoors. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her loving husband, James. She was the beloved mother of Joni Hahn and James T. Gleason and cherished nana to Dustin and Ashley Hahn. She is also surviving by her former son-in-law, William Hahn; and one brother, Bruce Makela. Joan is further survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her best friend of 67 years, Judy Stull.
Private services were held. Interment was at Prairie Home Cemetery.
