Mary Faie Hammel-Muller

Oct. 7, 1956 – Dec. 6, 2013

Mary Faie Hammel-Muller died on Dec. 6, 2013 in Tewksbury Hospital, Tewksbury, Mass., after a long and courageous battle with Huntington’s disease, the same hereditary illness that claimed her mother’s life in 1989.

Mary was born on Oct. 7, 1956, in Madison, the daughter of Gordon and Joanne (Rhodee) Hammel. She grew up in Oconomowoc and graduated from Oconomowoc High School. While attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she met her future husband, Henry Muller, who was a graduate student there. After their marriage on May 24, 1986, Henry’s career took them to Japan, New York, Illinois and Kansas before settling in Newburyport, north of Boston, Mass., in 1999.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Henry J. Muller of Haverhill, Mass.; a sister and brother-in-law, Bonny and Tom Mueller of Oconomowoc; three nephews: Dan, Ted, and Andy Mueller; an aunt, Mary Anne (Rhodee) Arthur of Fond du Lac; an uncle, John (Pauline) Hammel of Hartland; cousins and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Dan and Lorena Hammel and Leander and Carol Rhodee, all of Oconomowoc; and two aunts, Lucille Hammel Wood and Florence Hammel Nufer.

Tewksbury Funeral Home, http://www.tewksburyfuneralhome.com, is serving the family. Cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will take place at a later time. Memorials are suggested to the Huntington Disease Society of America.
