Nov. 23, 1929 – Dec. 4, 2013
Anita Jones passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Agrace HospiceCare in Madison.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Roger; daughters, Sue (Randy) Clinard of Cedar Park, Texas, Cindy (Kent) York of Falcon Heights, Minn., and Cheri Verdecchia of Verona; grandchildren, Jacob Verdecchia and Shannon Clinard; as well as siblings Loren Brian, Ray Brian, Roberta Miller and Lois Brian, all from Illinois.
Anita was born Nov. 23, 1929, to Jacob and Minnie Brian in Champaign County, Illinois. She met Roger while both were attending Illinois State University, and they were married on June 10, 1950.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Family and friends could always count on warm hospitality and delicious meals, often including her signature apple pie. Anita was a gifted seamstress who tailored many beautiful clothes, and there are fond memories of her working late into the night to complete the perfect outfit for one of her daughters. She was a voracious reader and strict grammarian who loved travel, dancing and playing bridge.
Anita and Roger were members of the First Congregational United Church of Christ of Oconomowoc, where she served as a neighborhood chairperson for a number of years.
A memorial service will be held at the UCC Church in Oconomowoc at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, with a light luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Heritage Monona Memory Care, Agrace Hospice-Care or the church.
