Helen A. Buchholz (nee Roberts)

Aug. 4, 1921 – Dec. 14, 2013

Helen Ann Buchholz (nee Roberts), 92, of Waukesha, passed away Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at Seasons Hospice in Waukesha. She was the daughter of the late Robert J. and Annie H (nee Griffiths) Roberts. Helen was born Aug. 4, 1921, in the Town of Genesee, where she attended Moriah Grade School.

She graduated from Waukesha High School in 1939. On April 25, 1953, she married Clifford M. Buchholz at Jerusalem Presbyterian Church in Wales.

Clifford preceded her death on May 24, 2004, after 51 years of marriage. Helen was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Waukesha, where she served on the altar committee and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for many years. In recent years, she volunteered for church office duties. She enjoyed being part of the church senior group, “The Green Banana Bunch.” When the church closed, she joined and was a faithful member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Waukesha.

She retired in 1995 from the Oaks Insurance Agency, where she had been employed for 42 years. She enjoyed gardening with her husband and did a lot of canning, and made jellies and jams. She will be remembered for her sense of humor. She was very proud of her grandchildren and all that they have accomplished.

She will be sadly missed by her sons, Brian L. (Ann Priesgen) Buchholz of Ixonia and Dean A. (Vickie) Buchholz of North Prairie. She was the loving grandmother of Caryssa Jean Buchholz of Chicago, Morgan Marie Buchholz of Madison and Mitchell Priesgen of Ixonia. She is further survived by her dear sister, Margaret Baumann of Waukesha; her niece, Gail Hunkins; nephews, Guy Baumann, Glen Baumann and Donald Roberts; many cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, William J. Roberts; sister-in-law, Elsie A. Buchholz; brothers-in-law, Earl G. Buchholz and Al Baumann; and nephew, Ronald A. Roberts.

Visitation will be held from 11:45 a.m. until the 1:30 p.m. funeral service Saturday, Dec. 21, at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave., Waukesha. The Rev. Andy Fetters will preside. Burial will immediately follow at Salem Cemetery in Wales.
