Melvin C. Metzger

April 21, 1932 – Dec. 19, 2013

Melvin C. “Mel” Metzger of Concord left us for heaven to be with the Lord on Dec. 19, 2013, at the age of 82. Mel was born on April 21, 1932, in Waukesha to William and Viola (Kuphal) Metzger. Melvin married the love of his life, Nancy (nee Schmit) Metzger, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lannon on June 13, 1953.

Survivors include: He was the beloved husband of Nancy (nee Schmit) Metzger, loving father of Cheryl (Darrell) Christian, Dale (Judy) Metzger, Lori (Erick) Frommgen, Sharon (Tony) Pugh; grandchildren Deejay Christian, Michelle Almandi, Tony (Nikki) Metzger, Tina (Brandon) Ottson, Josh, Becky, Austin and Kiara Frommgen, Nicole, Amber and Cora Pugh; greatgrandchildren Alexis and Natalie Christian, Kailee and Brooklyn Ottson, Jaylynn Metzger; sisters Evelynn, Shirley (Ralph); sisters- in-law Marge and Marion and many other relatives and friends.

Mel was preceded in death by his parents, William and Viola; sister Alice; brothers Harvey, William and Robert; sisters-in-law Irene and Catherine; and brothers-in-law Erv, Ed, and Wally.

Mel farmed for many years on the family farm in Lannon. Then he owned and operated in partnership Eichstaedt Implement dealerships in Hartford, Wales, and Watertown. He was your friendly “John Deere dealer” for 30 years. Mel also bought and sold farms.

He enjoyed traveling, snowmobiling, bowling, dartball, and gambling excursions.

He belonged to Concord snowmobile clubs for many years. He belonged to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Golden Lake and worshiped faithfully. Mel especially enjoyed riding his green machines and spending time with friends and family.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran, W407 Highway 18 Sullivan, WI.

53178. Funeral services were on Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sullivan at 11:00 a.m. Visitation was from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sullivan, Sullivan EMS, or Rainbow Hospice.
