Don Lee Woelffer

Don Lee Woelffer, 80, of La Crescent, Minn., and formerly of Oconomowoc, died peacefully at his home in La Crescent on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013. He was born Nov. 27, 1933, in Milwaukee, to Erwin and Ora (Wegaman) Woelffer. He graduated from Stevens Point High School and the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a degree in printing. Don married Pat Seibert on July 12, 1958, in South Milwaukee, and he served his country in the intelligence branch of the Army in Pasedena, Calif.

Don worked in various sales positions, including paper products, real estate and insurance. He and Pat moved to La Crescent in 2000. He was an avid Packers, Brewers and Badgers fan, and he enjoyed cribbage and sheepshead. Over the years, Don loved to fish, coach Little League baseball and spend time with his family.

He was proud of his children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments. Don could be seen at his home in La Crescent, sitting on the porch listening to the Brewers and waving to the neighbors. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Pat of La Crescent; his sons, Jay of Rice Lake, WI and Mark (Gretchen) of Trophy Club, TX; his daughter, Kathy (Brian) Wieser of La Crescent; 6 grandchildren, Alec, Gabrielle, and Colton Woelffer, and Abby, Adam and Olivia Wieser; a brother, Gale (Alice) Woelffer of Menasha, WI; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother and sister-in-law, Deane and Marianne Woelffer.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at Schumacher Kish Funeral Home, La Crescent. Linda Wieser, OSF, will officiate and a private family burial with military honors will be at Crucifixion Cemetery, La Crescent. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Gundersen Medical Foundation, designated to diabetes research.
