Frank Arnold Lewis

Frank Arnold Lewis of Waukesha died at the age of 77 of Alzheimer’s disease on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Elmbrook Hospital. He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on June 14, 1935, the son of Duane and Myrta (Brandt) Lewis.

 

Frank is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gayle (Stoves) Lewis, and his children, Robin and Matt Kotz, Greg and Laura Lewis and Randy Lewis. He was the dear father-in-law of Jill Vos and Tammy Lewis. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Hannah Kotz, Mick Lewis, Hayden Lewis, Addisen Lewis, Brynn Lewis, Rowen Lewis, and twin grandsons Andrew and Zach Lewis; and his brothers and sister, Fran (John) Parson of Waukesha, Roger and Sandy Lewis of Janesville, Jack and Terry Lewis of Anoka, Minn., and Robert and Anita Lewis of Polomena, Ariz. Frank is also survived by nieces, nephews, other friends and relatives, including a stepsister, Dorthy Kurtz.

 

He was preceded in death by parents, Duane and Myrta Lewis; brothers, James Lewis, Merle Lewis, Earl Lewis and Rick Lewis; and a baby sister, Donna Jean Lewis.

 

Frank moved to Waukesha from Iowa in 1945, and went to school in Waukesha until 12th grade, when he left school to join the Marine Corps. He served 3 1/2 years in the Marines - two of which were served in Hawaii.

 

Frank spent his life working as an operating engineer. He operated heavy machinery and was a proud member of Local 139 for 45 years. He retired in November 1998.

 

For many years, Frank played softball in the city of Waukesha, up until his boys were old enough to play with him, which he wholeheartedly enjoyed. He also managed a girls softball team.

 

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral service Friday, Feb. 22, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha.
