Leona E. Christopherson
Oct. 23, 1925 - Feb. 18, 2013
Leona E. Christopherson, a longtime resident of Delafield, found eternal peace with her lord and savior as she passed away peacefully at her home Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at the age of 87. Leona was born Oct. 23, 1925, on Ski Slide Road in the Town of Ixonia to Frederick and Helena Ruhs.
Leona attended Oconomowoc High School and graduated in 1944. Leona was the first in her family to obtain this accomplishment. Once Leona was married, she worked intermittently outside the home at local restaurants, kitchens and hospitals, which included the Red Circle Inn, the Colonial Inn and Rogers Memorial Hospital. On Aug. 5, 1944, Leona was united in marriage to Samuel A. Christopherson, who preceded her in death in 1991, and she now has joined her beloved husband; a loving son, Randolph (2003); her parents; three sisters, Irene, Meta and Anita; and two brothers, Herbert and Gerhardt.
Leona is survived by her son, Anthony (Peggy) Christopherson; Kristen (Ronald) Zabler; and daughter-in-law, Marliss, spouse of the late Randolph Christopherson. She is the proud grandmother of Michael (Kathryn) Christopherson and Leslie (Nicholas) Schroeder; step-grandmother of Joshua and Ashley Zabler; and great-grandmother of Randolph II, Mackenzie Christopherson, Maple and Sylvia Schroeder.
All who knew Leona will remember her enjoyment of the outdoors, fondness of animals, gardening and her gracious entertaining of many guests.
Leona was a longtime active member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church of Dousman. Please join us in celebration of Leona’s life on Saturday, Feb. 23. Friends may visit from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m., all at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Dousman (corner of highways 67 and 18).
