Jeannette and David were married in San Diego, Calif., where David proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Following Davidís service, they returned to Wisconsin, their home state. David and Jeannette, along with Davidís brother Elmer and his wife Dorothy, purchased a farm in Mukwonago in January 1945. Along with their children, they worked the land, farming fruits, vegetables and operated a dairy farm. They also opened up a small country market named Davelmer Market, now the Elegant Farmer. The brothers and their wives continued to run the farm and store until Elmers death, when his son Dan began working alongside his uncle Dave and his aunt Jeannette.

Jeannette and David dedicated their lives to working the farm and store, which remained in the family until the last couple years. Their love was an eternal love, with never a cross word between them. They were a true inspiration to their children.

Jeanette has finally gone home to join her beloved husband.
