Aug. 18, 1972 - Dec. 18, 2012
Theodore Conway of Houston, TX, formerly of Oconomowoc, passed away Dec. 18, 2012.
Theodore “Big Ted” was born Aug. 18, 1972, in Milwaukee, the son of John and Marlene “Molly” Conway, the second oldest of six siblings.
Ted graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1990. He went on to further his education as well as play basketball at Winona State University in Winona, Minn., where he graduated with a degree in criminal justice.
After college, Ted began his career in government service with the Federal Bureau of Prisons at the Federal Medical Center in Rochester, Minn. He later transferred to SeaTac Federal Detention Center in SeaTac, Wash. While at SeaTac, Ted met Dita. The couple married July 3, 1999, a day Dita fondly calls “the day she lost her independence.” Both Ted and Dita then transferred to the Federal Detention Center in Houston, Texas.
Ted continued his federal government career with the Department of Homeland Security, serving as a United States Air Marshal and working in various capacities with the agency.
From Ted and Dita's union, two children were born, Peyton Taylor Conway (who preceded him in death) and a 3-year-old daughter, Skylar Paige Conway.
To cherish his memories, Ted leaves his wife, Dita; daughter, Skylar; parents, John and Marlene of Oconomowoc; and siblings, Amber (Steven) Moore of Oconomowoc, Katie (Stephen) Brennan of Exeter, England, Matthew (Victoria) of Ixonia, John Paul (Samantha) of Winona, Minn., and Patrick of Middleton. He also leaves a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were held Dec. 29 at St. James Catholic Church in Texas, officiated by the Rev. Charles J. Samperi. Internment is at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery in Houston.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, with visitation at 9 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Joan of Arc Church, 120 Nashotah Road, Nashotah.
