Karen ‘Karin’ J. Bowers

Karen “Karin” J. Bowers, 65, Fort Atkinson, died on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at her home. She was born Nov. 18, 1947, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Eugene and Marilyn (Moriarity) Paulus.


Karen attended Oconomowoc High School until the family moved to Lake Mills in 1964, where she graduated from Lake Mills High School, Class of 1966. She then graduated from Madison Beauty College in 1968.


She had been a licensed real estate broker for Century 21 for a number of years.


Karen was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Mills and also St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson.


She volunteered at the Fort Atkinson Food Pantry, Jefferson Free Clinic and St. Vincent de Paul Society in Fort Atkinson.


Karen enjoyed bargain shopping, collecting and traveling.


Everything she did, she did with a passion.


Survivors include her children, Richard (Lindsay Hill) Bowers of Denver and Angela Fulwiler of Lake Mills; three grandchildren, Christopher Bowers, Benjamin Fulwiler and Heather Fulwiler; her mother, Marilyn Paulus of Watertown; one sister, Carol (Tom) Welch of Madison; one niece; and one nephew.


She was preceded in death by her father, Gene Paulus.


Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial today, Jan. 17, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Mills with the Rev. David Wanish officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Lake Cemetery.


Memorials may be directed to the Lake Mills St. Vincent de Paul Society.
