Kenneth E. Beck, 65, of Watertown, passed away unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, Jan. 21, 2013 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.

 

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Jan. 25th at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Watertown, with the Rev. David Groth officiating.  Burial, with Military Graveside Honors performed by the Watertown American Legion Post #189 will take place in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery in Concord.

 

Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.  Memorials, if desired are suggested to the charity of one’s choice.

 Kenneth Edwin was born in Watertown on Nov. 14, 1947, son of Edwin and Elvira (Buss) Beck.  On May 4, 1997, he married Cheryl (Brandt) Godfroy at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Watertown.  

 

Ken attended Immanuel Lutheran Grade School in Lebanon and was a 1965 graduate of Watertown High School.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany.  

 

Ken had been employed as a driver for Allard Express in Watertown and Consolidated Freightways of Waukesha.  He had also been employed at Brandt Automatic Cashier Company, which is currently named Talaris Inc., until his retirement in October of 2009.  After his retirement, he had been employed by the Town of Emmet.   

 

Ken loved draft horses and his dream was to someday return to “country living” and get some horses.  In 2003, his dream came true when he and Cheryl moved to the country and purchased four horses.  Ken also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.

 

Ken is survived by his wife, Cheryl Beck of Watertown; two sons, Nathan Beck of Watertown and Landon Beck of St. Louis, MO; three step children, Keith Godfroy, Craig (Kate) Godfroy and Lisa Godfroy, all of Watertown; a granddaughter, Amy Beck of Watertown; three step-grandchildren, Skylur, Kaden and Braeleigh Godfroy of Watertown; two sisters, Carol (Melvin) Nass of Watertown; Arlene (Loren) Holzhueter of Oconomowoc; a sister-in-law, Brenda Beck of Watertown, and a sister-in-law Carolyn Brandt of Fort Atkinson as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.  Ken was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronald Beck and a nephew, Jason Beck.
