Ruth E. Hutchinson (nee Kolo)

Ruth E. Hutchinson (nee Kolo) of New Berlin passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, after a brief hospitalization at the age of 83. Born on Aug. 18, 1929, in Milwaukee, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (nee Zaleski) Kolo.


After graduating from Girls Tech High School in 1947, she was united in marriage to Robert Hutchinson on Sept. 30, 1950. With a love of travel, Ruth and her husband took many cruises throughout the years. She was an avid dancer and singer, and also enjoyed watercolors, painting, craftwork and gardening. She had a special love for her German shepherd dogs who have passed before her, Peggy #1 and Peggy #2, along with “grand-dogs” Heidi, Ruby, Emma (German shepherds), Patches (beagle), Booker, Chivas, Dudley (basset hounds), Sam and Nelly (golden retrievers). Ruth is also survived by grand-dogs Kona (German shepherd/Shiba Inu) and Brady (collie).


She will be deeply missed by her husband, Robert G. Hutchinson of New Berlin; son, William D. (Linda) Hutchinson of Cottage Grove, Minn.; daughter, Mary Ann Hutchinson of Triangle, Va.; and brother, Richard (Margaret) Kolo of Greenfield. She is further survived by her brother-in-law, Robert Wueste of Clemson, S.C.; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Hutchinson) Strempel of New Berlin and Marjorie (Hutchinson) Slack of Lafayette, Ga.; along with many nieces and nephews, grandneices and -nephews, and great-neices and -nephews. She will also be missed by many lifelong friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Rose, Alice and Esther; and a brother, Harry.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 W. National Ave., New Berlin, followed by the funeral service at 6 p.m. Her final resting place will be at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Cemetery in Milwaukee.
