NEW BERLIN/ JACKSONVILLE,
Steven Fritz, 58, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, from pancreatic cancer.
Steve fought bravely against the cancer for a year and a half. During this fight, he spent 68 straight days in an intensive care unit. The family thought we had lost him several times, but Steve was determined to get out of the hospital. He battled back and returned home, where he wanted to be. After his initial hospital stay, he started treatments and rarely complained even in his final months in hospice care.
His family in Wisconsin is very grateful to his wife, Joan, who never left his side or gave up hope.
Born in Waukesha, Steve has been a resident of Jacksonville for the past 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Joan; two sisters, Christine Fritz of Phillips and Susan (Kurt) Pulford of Mineral Point; one brother, Daniel (Lori) Fritz of Milwaukee; two stepchildren, Ginger (John) Salt and Eric (Stephanie) Roberts; four grandchildren, Amber, Cory, Kaylee and Connor; and two nieces, Alisa and Olga.
Steven was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Ruth Fritz of New Berlin, and his furry pals, Bob and Maggie.
A special thank you to Dr. Horacio Asbun and the Mayo team. Your skill and compassion gave us another 18 months with him that we otherwise would not have had.
No services are planned at this time.
