March 27, 1931 – May 26, 2013
Joan Ann (Sharrett) Borbely of Cheyenne, Wyo., peacefully passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013, at The Davis Hospice Center surrounded by her loving family at the age of 82.
She was born in Davenport, Iowa, on March 27, 1931, the daughter of Sanford Bryan Sharrett and Anna Marie (Schneckloth) Sharrett.
In 1952, she married Louis Borbely of Davenport, Iowa, formally of Rakoczifalva, Hungary. In 1973, they moved to Waukesha, where Joan worked at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. Upon the death of her husband in 2003, she moved Cheyenne to be close to family.
Joan was a marvelous and selfless mother who encouraged love, respect and personal growth for family and friends. Her passion was her artwork and in the last decade of her life she was prolific in creating many paintings, drawings and sculptures, as well as short stories with illustrations. Her talent was limitless.
She was deeply spiritual, valued fairness and was devoted to the promotion of human welfare. Courageous and fierce in all that she believed and did. Joan had a great sense of humor, was quick to laugh and find joy in life. She will be missed by all.
Joan is lovingly survived by her children, Sam Borbely and wife Becky (Overholser) of Cheyenne; Joe Borbely of Nashville, Tenn., and wife Cindy (Grove); grandchildren, Caitlin Borbely, Gabriel Borbely, Stephanie Borbely, Bethany Borbely, Kyle Borbely and Melissa Borbely; and great-grandchildren, Mia Borbely and Tayah Flemister.
