Frederick M. Buege Jr.

Nov. 17, 1922 – June 3, 2013

Frederick M. Buege Jr., also known as Fred or Fritz to family and friends, passed away on June 3, 2013, at the age of 90. Fred was born Nov.

17, 1922, in Sussex, the son of Frederick Morris Buege Sr. and Ida Emma Gastrau Buege.

Fred was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, having entered the Army Air Corps in April 1943. His training began in Fort Sheridan and was placed in radio school in Texas and was later transferred to Madison to complete radio school. He served in the 389th Bomb Group.

Fred received his orders, which sent him to England and later to Africa. His strong Christian faith was evident even in wartime by the worn pages of his prayer book that he used daily. Fred was honorably discharged in September of 1945.

Fred was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waukesha. He served as an usher for many years as well as being on the visitor committee for the shut-ins of the church. Fred also served on Trinity’s School Board for several years as well as serving with many other volunteer activities at the church.

Fred was blessed with a Christian wife, Shirley M. Beck, with whom he entered into holy matrimony with on June 21, 1952. Shirley preceded him in death on June 13, 2009.

Fred is survived here on earth by daughters, Christine Buege and Lynn (Patrick) French. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Nicole (Brandon) Steenbock, Samuel (Elizabeth) French and Zachary French; four great-grandsons; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; parents, Frederick Sr. and Ida Buege; and a brother, Henry Buege.

A visitation for Fred will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha, with the Rev. Scott Oelhafen from Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha officiating. Burial will follow at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Pewaukee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha are suggested.
