Mary Jane Schley
Oct. 12, 1922 – June 9, 2013
Mary Jane Schley of Port Orchard, Wash., passed away peacefully at Kitsap County Hospice on June 9, 2013, at the age of 90, after a brief illness.
Mary Jane was born in Waukesha to Edward and Alma Boehmke, the first of six children. After completing school and while working for Wisconsin Electric Co., she married Gordon W. Schley on May 19, 1945, then in 1951 they had a son, John Gordon Schley.
They enjoyed Gordy’s long and successful Navy career together, moving many times within the United States and elsewhere as Gordy’s Navy assignments required. She especially loved their time living in London, England, and enjoyed her collections of English Spode China and Waterford Irish crystal. After Gordy’s last assignment at the U.S. Naval shipyard in Bremerton, Wash., they retired in 1974 to Port Orchard. In retirement, she enjoyed entertaining, traveling, playing bridge, family and friends.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Alma Boehmke; son, John Gordon Schley; sisters, Ruth Alamshah and Georgiann Dahms; and brother-in-law, John Kawatski. She will be missed by her husband, Capt. Gordon W.
